Echoes from Georgia: Seventeen Arguments on Georgian Polyphony



The International Research Center for Traditional Polyphony of Tbilisi State Conservatoire published an English language collection of ethnomusicological works “Echoes from Georgia: Seventeen Arguments on Georgian Polyphony” in 2010. the project was realized with the support of Nova Science Publishers (USA), with the participation of Mr. Frank Columbus (President of the Publishing House) and Mrs. Nadya Gotsiridze – Columbus (Vice President), for this Georgian ethnomusicologists are grateful to them.

The book includes the works by Georgian (Ivane Javakhishvili, Dimitri Araqishvili, Shalva Aslanishvili, Vladimer Akhobadze, Grigol Chkhikvadze, Mindia Zhordania, Valerian maghradze, evsevi Chokhonelidze, Vladimer Gogotishvili, Edisher Garaqanidze, Manana Shilakadze, Rusudan Tsurtsumia, Joseph Jordania, Nino Tsitsishvili and Tamaz Gabisonia) and Western (Siegfried Nadel/Germany, Izaly Zemtsovsky/USA) scholars.

The collection begins with the Introduction of Rusudan Tsurtsumia and Joseph Jordania and a review by renowned ethnomusicologists Simha Arom (France) and Polo Vallejo (Spain). The collection is also enclosed by the editors’ comments and a vast bibliography (153 units) about Georgian polyphony.
