MAKA KHARDZIANI

Doctor of Musicology, ethnomusicologist; graduated from the Musicology-Composition Department of Tbilisi State Conservatoire (1997). In various years worked at Tbilisi Music Gimnazium #1,  Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University, Georgian Folk Music Department of Tbilisi State Conservatoire. Currently is a specialist at the International Research Center for Traditional Polyphony (IRCTP) of Tbilisi State Conservatoire, Associated Professor at Giorgi Mtatsmindeli Higher Educational Institution of Ecclesiastical Chant; editor of the IRCTP Bulletin; leads pedagogical and scientific activity; participates in national and international scientific conferences; Her scholarly interest focuses on Svan traditions and folk music; is a member of female folk ensemble “Nanina”.
