A candidate in History of Art. In 1981 she graduated from the faculty of Musicology (Folklore specialty) at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire. Over years  she worked at the Department of the Musical Folklore of the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, a head of the Chair in Music at the Institute of Culture. Her scientific work is related to the issue of hymnography. Her thesis for seeking a candidate’s degree was “Kartuli rva khmis sistema da misi kilo-intonatsiuri safudzveli” (Georgian eight voice system and its mode-intonation basement).

Ethnomuiscologist; works at Georgian Folk Music Laboratory of Tbilisi State Conservatoire. Graduated from Tbilisi State Conservatoire in 1979 (Musicology Department, in specialty of folklore), completed post-graduate studies (in specialty of musical aesthetics) in 1983. Studies aesthetic fundamentals of Georgian secular and sacred music in the aspect of medieval Georgian philosophy (Ioane Petritsi); has published a number of articles in scientific collections and journals of the Conservatoire; participates in national and international conferences and symposia.

Doctor of Musicology, ethnomusicologist; graduated from the Musicology-Composition Department of Tbilisi State Conservatoire (1997). In various years worked at Tbilisi Music Gimnazium #1,  Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University, Georgian Folk Music Department of Tbilisi State Conservatoire. Currently is a specialist at the International Research Center for Traditional Polyphony (IRCTP) of Tbilisi State Conservatoire, Associated Professor at Giorgi Mtatsmindeli Higher Educational Institution of Ecclesiastical Chant; editor of the IRCTP Bulletin; leads pedagogical and scientific activity; participates in national and international scientific conferences; Her scholarly interest focuses on Svan traditions and folk music; is a member of female folk ensemble “Nanina”.

Ethnomusicologist, a coordinator of the Folklore State Center. She leads a course of theory and practice in Georgian musical folklore at the Tbilisi 4th musical school. In 1983 she graduated from the faculty of Musicology (Folklore specialty) at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire. Over years she worked in the Musical Department of Georgian Radio. The main sphere of her scientific interest is the issue of Organology. She is a member of the women’s folk ensemble “Mzetamze”.

Shvelidze’s main works:

Kartuli mravalgheriani salamuri – larchem-soinari (Georgian multistam pipe – larchem-soinari) (2003). Tsurtsumia, Rusudan and Jordania, Joseph (editor). 10.10.1960.
Ethnomusicologist, a head of the Department of Musical Art at the Folklore State Centre. In 1986 she graduated from the faculty of Musicology (Folklore specialty) at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire. She has been a teacher of Georgian folk singing in a secondary and public schools and a college. She participates in field work, is a member of the women’s ensemble “Mzetamze”. She is a founder and a leader of a men’s choir “Jvaruli”, a performer of Khevi songs. She also is a teacher at the E. Garaqanidze Children’s Studio “Amer-Imeri” and a conductor of the Petre-Pavle Church choir.

Ethnomusicologist, Candidate in Historian Sciences. In 1975 graduated from the department of Musicology (specialty of folklore) of the Tbilisi State Conservatoire. Since 1981 has been a chief scientist-specialist of the institute problem group of research of musical ethnology of the Iv. Javakhishvili State Institute of History and Ethnology. Ethnologist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor. She graduated the faculty of History at the Tbilisi State University (1962). She has worked at the I. Javakhishvili Institute of the History and Ethnology of the Georgian Akademy of Sciences (1962-2006). She has published about 100 scientific articles in Georgian, Russian and German languages. She is the author of several books. The main field of her research was the Georgian-Northern  Caucasian ethnocultural relationships, the written sources of the Middle Ages about the Georgian musical culture.
